Winter 2011 / Spring 2012

Botulism Vaccine:

With a very wet Winter and Spring, there have been some reports of botulism in the area. Please make sure your horse is up to date on this vaccine! There is little time to spare should your horse show signs of becoming ill with botulism.

Deworming and Parasites:

With the ever increasing trend toward resistance to commonly used anthelmintic drugs to treat intestinal parasites, it is highly recommended that you switch to a strategic deworming program. This involves much more frequent fecal exams for your horse(s) to detect parasite loads before deciding to deworm. The old idea of deworming at fixed intervals throughout the year just doesn't 'cut the mustard' any more!
