A farm call fee ($40-$75) as appropriate will apply with each of the following.

Mares brought to the barn facility at Chilly Bleak for breeding and / or foaling pay a one time admission fee ($40); Chilly Bleak boarded horses will not be charged a farm call.

Artificial Insemination (AI) using cooled transported semen

$400.00/cycle plus board ($30.00/day)
Includes all reproductive examinations (palpation plus ultrasound)
Hormonal stimulants to induce ovulation
Insemination and post-ovulatory treatments (if needed)
14, 24 and 45 day pregnancy examinations by ultrasound
$150.00 additional fee if deep intrauterine insemination by hysteroscopy
$150.00 additional fee if twin reduction is required

AI using frozen semen

$600.00/cycle plus board ($30.00/day)
All reproductive exams (palpation plus ultrasound) at 6 hour intervals once ovulation is imminent or expected.
Hormonal stimulants to induce ovulation
Insemination and post-ovulatory treatments (if needed)
14, 24 and 45 day pregnancy examinations by ultrasound
$150.00 additional fee if deep intrauterine insemination by hysteroscopy
$150.00 additional fee if twin reduction is required

Mare Breeding Soundness Examination

$250/mare; includes rectal palpation and ultrasound exams, vaginal speculum and manual exams,
endometrial culture and cytology, and endometrial biopsy.
cytogenetic (DNA) analysis and hormonal profiles are extra if required or requested

High Risk Pregnancy Care and Foaling

$1000/mare; plus board at $30/day prior to foaling and $45/day after foaling

Normal Pregnancy Care and Foaling

$600.00/mare, plus board at $30/day prior to foaling, then $45/day after foaling

Embryo Transfer

Separate fees depending upon each individual event and how recipient mare arrangements are determined ($350/donor-flush; $150/recip-transfer; $30/day board; recipient mare synchronization $150/mare/cycle)
Lease the recipient mare or provide your own.
NOTE WELL: We do not maintain a dedicated herd of available recipient mares. We occasionally have one or two available, but not at all times. Discuss these arrangements with Dr. Ley, prior to making arrangements for your donor mare. (eMail: VAhorsevet@aol.com or call 540-303-2336)

Oviductal Patency Determination

$250/oviduct; three to seven day procedure, board at $30/day.

Follicle Aspiration and Oocyte Collection for Cryopreservation

$600/aspiration of as many follicles as are obtainable, cryopreservation of each viable oocyte will be at $50/oocyte

Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT)

Separate fee estimates to be arranged on an individual basis

Oocyte Transfer / Intra-follicular Transfer of Oocytes

Separate fee estimates to be arranged on an individual basis

Perineal Reconstructive Surgeries:

Vulvoplasty (Caslick’s suture) $60.00
Perineoplasty (Perot’s Technique)*
Third Degree Perineal Laceration Repair*
Recto-Vaginal Fistula Repair*

*Separate fee estimate(s) provided by event after Dr. Ley examines the mare. New Client Fee, and/or other fees may also apply. Please speak with Dr. Ley.
